Fair day's work for a fair day's pay
I'm busy all the year – O
Working woman, working man
I am the Unsung Hero
Up there 50 stories high
Without an ounce of fear – O
Or tunneling beneath your feet
I am the Unsung Hero

Raise your caps and raise your glasses
Some may equal, none surpasses

All the bridges, all the roads
From Timbuctoo to here – O
As you travel think of me
I am the Unsung Hero
Many good men left behind
They sold their souls so dear – O
Many left without a grave
They are the Unsung Heroes

Raise your caps and raise your glasses
Some may equal, none surpasses

I'll push a shovel, swing a pick
If it's roasting or it's zero
I leave the world a better place
I am the Unsung Hero
O sing about your victories
Your champions far and near – O
But look who does the dirty work
I am the Unsung Hero

Raise your caps and raise your glasses
Some may equal, none surpasses

O kings and queens and generals
That you all love to cheer – O
Spare a thought for the working souls
I am the Unsung Hero
